Is sedentary lifestyle associated with an increase in risk of developing depression? the very simple answer is yes! Therefore the more you move the happier you can be! one theory that was put forward within the study to answer why this is the case could be that with a sedentary lifestyle the chance of simple social interaction is decreased which has been proven to cause such issues as depression. Moving more can be very easy for a lot of people however for some people it can be extremely hard, going to the gym would be the obvious route for a lot of people, but some people do not enjoy the gym environment. The NHS have put forward a very good program in recent years called couch to 5KM this program helps to motivate people to start exercise very slowly and manageable and then progress to a realistic and achievable target, this could be a very good option for people who are suffering with depression or sedentary lifestyle.
