The amount of data that is being spoken about now regarding sleep is vast, suggesting improved recovery aids in performance etc. However a question that isn't asked a lot is the lack of sleep actually causing injury? in a recent study they actually looked at lack of sleep causing injury? they found "Our findings suggest that neither sleep quantity nor quality is associated with injury risk in collegiate football players. Despite these results, the authors support the promotion of proper sleep hygiene in athletic populations as poor sleep habits may influence a number of other factors related to injury risk." This is very interesting as sleep is not associated to risk of injury however is still very much related to performance.
