Caffeine is one of the most widely used supplements in sporting performance however is there any evidence that proves its effects on performance. In 2019 the British sports medical journal undertook a meta analysis of current high quality data on this topic and came back with the answer yes, caffeine can offer an increase in acute sporting performance. A number of tests where performed but the areas which caffeine showed t have the biggest impact on where on muscle endurance, muscle strength, anaerobic power and aerobic endurance. However caffeine showed to have improvement on jumping performance and exercise speed these results where not as convincing as the previous and the studies where of a lower grade. In conclusion this answers the question if you are looking to gain in sporting performance caffeine use should be looked at in supplementation
