Have you ever wondered how you should warm up for a squat? often patient say to me they warm up for squats in the gym by squatting, this to me doesn't sound like the most sensible idea... would you warm up for a 100m sprint by sprinting? I don't think so. Therefore a appropriate warm up routine for a squat technique is critical to be able to perform a lift, exercises like lunges, step ups, side planks, planks are brilliant exercises for activating the surrounding tissue.
