Injuries Related to Playing Golf

A study was undertaken in 2018 to see what musculoskeletal injuries where most common in the sport of professional Golf. Due to the vast amount of rotation required in golfing technique it was unsurprising to find out that spinal injuries came out on top, the area most effected was the lumbar spine. On the other hand cervical spine injuries where noted, however interestingly this did not correlate to the amateur game. The second most injuries location was the hand and wrist after the spine was taken out, it noted that injuries in the lead side was the most commonly effected therefore left side in a right-handed golfer. A weakness of this study is they did not report on the severity of the injury therefore some injuries may take longer to recover than others.
